Precautions for DC brakes

The following precautions should be taken when using DC brakes to ensure safe and efficient operation and extend equipment life:

Avoid motor overheating: DC braking generates braking torque by applying DC current to the stator windings, converting energy into heat which is dissipated within the motor. Prolonged or frequent use may lead to excessive motor temperature rise; therefore, braking time and current intensity should be set appropriately.

Use in conjunction with regenerative braking: In variable frequency speed control systems, DC braking is typically used in conjunction with regenerative braking-regenerative braking first reduces the speed to a lower value, then DC braking is activated for precise stopping, avoiding the impact or overcurrent caused by direct high-speed braking.
